1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using MyLake ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use MyLake.

2. Description of Service

MyLake is operated by My Lake Technologies LLC. MyLake is a lake-community platform that helps members share real-time updates, photos, interactive maps, private groups, chat, optional live crew location sharing, lake conditions, weather radar when active, and community safety alerts. The Service is available as a website, progressive web app, and native mobile apps for iOS and Android. The native apps provide the same MyLake experience through a secure in-app browser connected to our servers.

MyLake is free for the lake community. Features may vary by lake and may change over time.

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

To use certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information
• Maintain and update your account information
• Keep your credentials secure
• Accept responsibility for activity under your account
• Notify us promptly of unauthorized access

3.2 Account Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use MyLake. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

3.3 Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time in the app under Account → Delete Account (or Account → Privacy → Delete Account). Deletion is permanent. You may also request deletion by contacting privacy@mylake.live. Some data may be retained where required by law or for safety investigations, as described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Community Guidelines

MyLake is built for real lake communities. To keep the platform useful and safe, you agree to follow these guidelines in addition to the rules below:

• Be respectful to other members — no harassment, threats, hate speech, or bullying
• Share accurate information, especially for map pins and safety-related posts
• Do not post spam, scams, or misleading content
• Do not share others' private information without permission
• Do not post illegal content or content that exploits minors
• Use reporting tools for posts, map markers, and chat messages you believe violate these guidelines
• Respect group privacy — content in private groups is for members of that group
• Do not abuse live location sharing or community safety alerts

We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend accounts that violate these guidelines or our Terms. Repeat or severe violations may result in permanent removal.

5. User Conduct and Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use MyLake to:

• Violate applicable laws or regulations
• Infringe intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights
• Post false, misleading, or harmful content
• Harass, threaten, or harm other users
• Spam, phish, or engage in fraudulent activity
• Disrupt the Service or attempt unauthorized access
• Use automated systems without permission
• Share false emergency information or misuse safety features
• Stalk or track others using location features without consent

6. User Content

6.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of content you post. By posting content, you grant MyLake a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute your content as needed to operate the Service. You represent that you have the rights to grant this license.

6.2 Content Moderation and Reporting

You can report posts, map markers, and chat messages through in-app reporting. Reports are reviewed by administrators. We may remove content, warn users, block accounts, or take other action at our discretion. We are not obligated to monitor all content but may do so.

False or abusive reports may result in restrictions on your account. For urgent safety issues, contact local authorities; MyLake moderation is not an emergency response service.

7. Location Features

MyLake includes map pins, optional group live location sharing, and community safety alerts that may use your location. Use these features responsibly and only with permission where required. See our Privacy Policy for how location data is collected and shared.

Live location sharing is opt-in and visible to group members while active. Do not use MyLake to track people without their knowledge or consent.

9. Push Notifications (Mobile Apps)

If you use the MyLake native app for iOS or Android, you may receive optional push notifications when you grant permission on your device (for example, crew group messages, map pin activity, and community safety alerts). Delivery depends on your in-app notification preferences, device settings, and network conditions. Push notifications are a convenience only — we do not guarantee delivery, timeliness, or accuracy. You can disable them in your device settings or adjust preferences in Account → Notifications.

MyLake is currently offered free of charge. If we introduce paid features later, we will update these Terms and describe fees before you are charged.

11. Intellectual Property

MyLake and its original content, features, and branding are owned by MyLake and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our Service without permission.

12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

12.1 Service Availability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation. Map, weather, and community-submitted information may be incomplete or outdated.

12.2 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MyLake shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MyLake from claims arising out of your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or Community Guidelines. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends and we may delete associated data subject to our Privacy Policy and legal obligations.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Your State/Country], without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of [Your Jurisdiction], unless applicable law requires otherwise.
